Popular Italian Bread Ciabatta

This is an Italian traditional starter, which is very soft and spongy. The preparation method is also very simple. The taste of Ciabatta is also amazing that it’s going to win hearts of your family and loved ones. I think you should definitely make an attempt to prepare it.

Preparation Time: 4 hours, 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes
Servings: 4-5 slices


Ingredients:
  • One eighth tea spoon yeast (dry)
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot milk (approx 45degreeC)
  • One third cup hot water
  • 1-2 cups bread flour
  • Salt as per taste

Preparation Procedure:

  • For making Sponge: In a bowl, mix the hot warm and yeast together and leave it aside for a few minutes till it turns creamy.
  • Then add bread flour to the mixture, keep stirring for about 4-5 minutes.
  • Let cover the bowl with a plastic cover and leave it for fermentation. It should be left aside for at least twelve hours at normal room temperature.
  • For preparing bread: In a bowl mix milk and yeast together and allow it to turn creamy.
  • Now, stir the sponge blend oil, water, salt and flour. In a very limited speed mix the combination using a mixer or a blender go on stirring until the batter becomes elastic and softer. Next, Pour out the batter in an oil greased container and cover it with a plastic wrap. Leave the dough for around 8-9 hours.
  • After leaving the dough for 11-12 hours the batter becomes double, filled with bubbles (air) and sticky. Now, place the dough on a floured surface and cut it into two portions. Once the portions are separated turn it into an oval shape each should be for around 9-10 inches long. Dust the top part with flour and use a wet towel to cover the dough. Keep the dough aside for about 2-21/2 hours.
  • Now, after a long wait it’s time to bake ciabatta in the oven. Preheat the oven for about 220degreeC.
  • The baking procedure completes when the bread turns out to be pale. Place the bread on the wired rack and allow it to cool.
