Warm up the winter season with the exquisite liquid desert which is often a crowd pleaser. The dish is easy to prepare and is affordable.

2 cups of strong black coffee
Half cup of Marsala
3 eggs, separated
1/3 cup of caster sugar
250 g of mascarpone
300 ML of thickened cream, lightly whipped
One large packet of sponge fingers
Cocoa, for dusting


  1. In a shallow dish, pour coffee and Marsala.
  2. In another large bowl, beat egg yolks and mix sugar. Use an electric beater to turn the mixture into thick and pale.
  3. Add whipped cream and mascarpone. Mix gently until all the ingredients are combined.
  4. In another bowl, beat egg whites and use an electric beater to achieve soft peaks.
  5. With the help of a large metal spoon, fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. In a square ceramic dish, dip enough biscuits and coffee mixture to cover the base.
  7. For one third of the mascarpone mixture that would cover the base filled with biscuits. Repeat layers for another two times. The last layer will consist of cream.
  8. Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours.
  9. Dust Cocoa over the mixture before serving.
