Goat Cheese & Basil Pesto Pizza

The pesto based pizza is an amazing, simple and mouth watering recipe. It adds variation to the regular pizza and has all the ingredients that tastebuds wish to taste.

3 cups of basil leaves
2 teaspoons of minced garlic
2 tablespoons of toasted pine nuts
1/3rd cup of olive oil
½ cup of fresh lemon juice
½ teaspoon sea salt
1/4th teaspoon of pepper
1/4th cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Rolled pizza dough
140 gms -fresh goat cheese
1 sliced tomato
1 sauteed cremini mushroom


  1. The first step involves creating the pesto for the pizza. Combine basil leaves, garlic, pine nuts, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil in food processor. Process the mixture until it is chunky. 
  2. Keep the processor running and sprinkle remaining olive oil into the mixture at a steady pace. 
  3. Add lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, sea salt and pepper. Continue processing the mixture until it becomes smooth. 
  4. Heat up the oven to 500 degrees. Use non-stick cooking spray on the grates on both the sides. Keep it aside. 
  5. You can prepare pizza rounds or buy readily available pizza round doughs from the market. Choose the diameter according to the need. Place the round pizza dough on the greased sheet and place it outside the grill. 
  6. Place the dough slowly in the grill from the cookie sheet. Cook the dough for 5 minutes. 
  7. Remove the dough and place it on the cookie sheet greased with non-stick spray. 
  8. Flip the bottom of the crust and spread pesto evenly on it. 
  9. Add sliced tomato and sautéed mushroom, followed by grated goat cheese. 
  10. Place the pizza dough back on the grill. Cook the pizza for 6 – 7 minutes. When cooking is done, the crust becomes puffy and the bottom becomes slightly charred. 
  11. Remove the pizza and serve with additional grated goat cheese.
