Chicken Wild Rice Chowder

It is a comfort food and perfect dish for on a cold winter day. It would surely help you get through the rest of the day with ease. 

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4

2 cups of sliced carrots.
½ cup of chopped onion.
½ cup of chopped celery.
2 tablespoons of butter.
3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour.
2 cans of chicken broth.
1 package of ready-to-serve long grain wild rice.
1/4th cup of half-and-half cream.
1/8th teaspoon of pepper.


  1. Saut√© the onion and carrots in a tablespoon of butter in a saucepan on medium flame. They should become tender. 
  2. Add all-purpose flour and stir well thoroughly. Make sure that the mixture is blended completely. 
  3. Add chicken broth in an even manner while stirring continuously. 
  4. Boil the mixture on high flame for 2-3 minutes with the saucepan closed with a lid. 
  5. Remove the lid, stir the mixture and cook further until it becomes thick. 
  6. Add chicken, rice, pepper and cream. Stir well and heat through on low flame for 15 minutes. 
  7. Add salt and pepper, to taste and serve hot.
