Khatti Dal

1 cup - Tuvar Dal
a pinch - Hing
2 - Tomatoes chopped
2-3 - Red Dry Chillies
1 tsp - Ginger Garlic paste
6 tbsp - Tamarind pulp
Salt to taste
Coriander to garnish

  • Soak the Tuvar Dal for 20 mins and pressure cook
  • Heat oil in a vessel and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and let them crackle
  • Add curry leaves, red dry chillies, hing, ginger garlic paste and saute them
  • Add chopped tomatoes and saute
  • Add cooked Dal, tamarind pulp, salt and cook for sometime 
  • Garnish with chopped Coriander and Serve hot

For Seasoning:

4 tbsp Oil / Ghee
1  tsp Cumin seeds
1  tsp Black mustard seed
5-6 Curry Leaves

To save time, cook Tuvar Dal in pressure cooker untill it becomes soft.
